PPF is only as good as the install. Even the highest-grade film will fail prematurely if applied incorrectly, and we see the same five mistakes over and over in warranty claims from inexperienced installers.
1. Skipping decontamination. Any wax, sealant or contamination under the film creates adhesion failure within months.
2. Cutting on the paint. Razor blades against the clearcoat leave permanent witness lines. All cuts should be pre-templated or done with knife-less tape.
3. Insufficient slip solution. Too little tack water means the film grabs prematurely and traps bubbles.
4. Wrong heat for tacking. Excessive heat damages the polymer; insufficient heat means edges lift within weeks.
5. Wrapping edges that should be tucked. Edges left flat on body lines collect dirt and peel.
The lesson: choose your installer carefully. A premium film installed badly is worse than a budget film installed right.
