One of the most common questions in detailing is whether to choose PPF or ceramic coating. The short answer: they solve different problems. Ceramic coatings make your paint hydrophobic, glossy and easier to clean, but they offer almost no impact protection. A rock chip will still chip your paint with a ceramic coating on it.

PPF, on the other hand, is a physical layer that absorbs impacts. Rock chips, scratches, and even light parking lot incidents are stopped at the film instead of damaging the clearcoat. The trade-off historically was that ceramic looked glossier, but modern PPF with gloss finishes matches that.

The right answer for most premium car owners: PPF on high-impact areas (front bumper, hood, mirrors, fenders, A-pillars) and ceramic over the rest. The combination gives you the easy-clean benefits of ceramic plus the physical protection where it matters most.
